A Family Legacy by the Queen of Rivers
The campsite was founded by my grandfather, Andreas Sellæg, around 1960. It all began when some of his friends were allowed to pitch their tents on the property. Over time, he developed the area with cabins, and the site eventually became known as Namsen Fishing Camp.
My great-grandparents, Signy and Asbjørn Sellæg, hosted English sport fishers in the main house at the farm Utheim from 1925 to 1935. After the war, my grandparents, Oddlaug and Andreas Sellæg, ran a small guesthouse in the same house for several years before establishing the campsite.
Today, I am the owner, but the daily operations are still managed by my parents, Gidsken and Kjell Asbøll.

A Traditional Camp by the Queen of Rivers – Namsen
Namsen Fishing Camp is part of Utheim Farm, where guests have been welcomed since the 1920s. The first visitors were English sport fishers, and after World War II, many Danish salmon anglers came to experience the legendary fishing in the Namsen.
The current camp was established in the late 1960s and has since been regularly upgraded to meet modern standards. Today, the farm and camp are run by the fourth generation — Anlaug Sellæg Asbøll.
An Idyllic Setting by the Riverbank
Beautifully located right by the water’s edge, Namsen Fishing Camp can accommodate up to 50 guests. The site includes cozy cabins, modern houses, a large timber-built lavvu (Sami-style tent), an administration building, and a private dock.
The high season coincides with the salmon fishing season — from June 1 to August 31 — but we also offer accommodation outside the season, both for short and long stays.
During the fishing season, we offer salmon fishing from both boat and shore, on some of the best stretches of the Namsen. There are also easily accessible fishing spots from land, along with excellent hiking and hunting opportunities nearby.
Events, Courses & Conferences
Our atmospheric timber lavvu is perfect for small and medium-sized gatherings, accommodating up to 35 people. It is fully equipped and well-suited for catering. The camp is also ideal for courses and conferences — we are happy to assist with arrangements in collaboration with skilled local partners.
Dining
Namsen Fishing Camp offers facilities suitable for both conferences and catering events such as weddings and confirmations.
Accommodation for Every Need
We offer three spacious cabins with 3–4 bedrooms, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, living room, TV, WiFi, and made-up beds.
In addition, we have three smaller cabins with 1–2 bedrooms, accommodating up to four people — all with the necessary facilities.
For those who prefer something simpler, we also have basic cabins with bunk beds (made up), a dining area, cooking facilities, refrigerator, and cold running water.
Location & Practical Information
The camp is located only 20 km from Namsos and 30 km from the ski resort and hiking area at Bjørgan/Grong.
The nearest shop and pharmacy are in Overhalla, just 7 km away.
